Two-step verification for Ylastic Mobile

Last week, we added support for two-step verification aka MFA for Ylastic web version. We just rolled out this security feature to all versions of Ylastic mobile - iPhone, Android and Blackberry6.

Do YOU know what you spent on AWS in 2010 ?

AWS continues to provide innovative pay-as-you-go infrastructure services, and we find more and more uses for them. Ylastic is built and run entirely on AWS, so we tend to rack up the expenses between production, and the various development and testing environments. But we do keep a close tab on our AWS spending, especially EC2 which is the largest component of our expenses. Ylastic helps us keep an eye on our spending on Ylastic. Here is a sampling from the spending analytics for one of our testing accounts for last year - 2010.

Visualize the division of your spending, so you know where to optimize. Spending too much on EBS snapshots? Maybe you dont need snapshots at such a frequent schedule.

View spending by region - Most testing happens for this account in US East, hence the skewed spending.

EBS Volume Metrics, Mobile Charts and Alerts

Ylastic has complete support for the recently released EBS Cloudwatch metrics.

  • View and drill into detailed Cloudwatch data for all your EBS volumes. Select time periods of your choice and view all the metrics on one page. All the times are in the timezone of your choice, not UTC.

  • View EBS cloudwatch charts on your iPhone or Android. Keeps tabs on those pesky volumes while you are on the go.

Mobile RDS Cloudwatch for iPhone and Android

Ylastic now supports viewing the RDS Cloudwatch charts for your database instances on your iPhone or Android. Easy as can be - Select an instance and click to get the data. Put that smartphone in your pocket to work!

Mobile EC2 CloudWatch

Mobile SimpleDB query browser for iPhone and Android released

Ylastic now provides a mobile SimpleDB query browser for the iPhone and Android based smartphones. Pick the domain that you want to search, type in the query in SDB format and off you go. The search will retrieve upto a maximum of 10 matching items and their attributes, so you don't need to wade through 100s of matches on your mobile phone.

iPhone and Android mobile support for EU EC2

Ylastic now supports using the iPhone and Android based smartphones for managing your EU EC2 resources. The user interface displays all of your EC2 resources across both US and EU regions along with visual indicators for the region and lets you interact and manage them easily.
